WASHING YOUR VEHICLE
- Wash your vehicle when the weather is cool and in a shady place.
- Wet the vehicle thoroughly, so that the dust does not scratch the finish when you rub the surface with your sponge.
- Wash your car from the top down.
- Don't use dish soap or household cleaners as these can strip down the top coat.
- Remember to wash behind your vehicle's mudguards.
- Before drying, open all doors and the back hatch so that all crevices air out and to prevent humidity build-up inside the car.
ABOUT AUTOMATED CAR WASHES
- Avoid car washes with rotating brushes - these can scratch the dirt into the vehicle's surface.
- Avoid automated car washes using recycled water conditioned with ammonia.
- Save some money and select the most economical wash. These usually cycle the vehicle once through the wash and are less harsh on the its exterior.

WAXING YOUR VEHICLE
- Use a high-quality wax and stay away from products promising to eliminate scratches, stains or rust.
- Never wax your car directly under direct sunlight since the heat may adversely affect the wax and ruin your vehicle's top coat.
- Wax a small area at a time and use a circular motion to remove the wax. Use care to apply a clean piece of cloth to the remove the wax each time.
PROTECTING YOUR VEHICLE'S TOP COAT
- If at all possible, avoid exposing your vehicle to gravel roads. Gravel creates small cracks in your vehicle's top coat which deteriorate over time.
- Use a bug remover to eliminate bug remnants from your finish. Some insects possess acidic qualities to their exoskeletons which can deteriorate your vehicle's finish.
- Clean bird droppings as soon as possible. Bird droppings contain phosphates that convert into phosphoric acid and cause damage to your finish.
